Mission Statement

TO DATE

  • A local survey has been completed and findings analysed.
  • A national survey has been completed, and data has been collated and analysed.
  • A local schools’ network has been established and network
    meetings have taken place.
  • Ian Cumpson, senior lecturer in multi-media technology at Greenwich has contributed to the initial, pilot website. This has since been redeveloped by Nicole Lagden, Information Services at Kingston University.
  • Prue Goodwin, Director of Inset at Reading University has collaborated with the project and has presented a seminar on higher order reading skills at one of our network meetings and has also given an introductory talk at our June 2004 Books Alive!© conference.
  • Walker Books have pledged their support through providing authors and illustrators to work with the project
  • Anthony Browne has shown great interest in working with the project and has given permission for one of his books to be converted into talking book format as part of our pilot project. He is involved in ongoing dialogue offering suggestions about how his book is to be adapted into a new talking book genre.
  • A workshop/seminar was given in Manchester at the United Kingdom Literacy Association (UKLA) International conference (July 2004)
