Prue Goodwin taught in primary and middle schools for over twenty years and was an advisory teacher for language development before becoming director of INSET at the Reading and Language Information Centre, at the University of Reading, UK.
Her role at the Centre involves running courses on language and literacy development, acting as a consultant to publishers of children’s books and researching literacy development in schools. The results of her work in schools are described in Centre publications, such as Fiction in the literacy hour, Reluctant to read? and Reading aloud to children. Prue edited The literate classroom, a collection of articles by leading teacher educators, which was published by David Fulton Publishers in 1999. A companion volume,The articulate classroom, was published in Spring 2001.
